Dad's had a busy day already. PT and Speech came to see him. PT has him doing exercises- he can stand but he's very weak. He needs to up his movement, even when he's in bed. (he's now been in bed almost exclusively for a full month). He was up in a chair for 4 hours today- that exhausts him. He also got nauseas and sick afterwards. He feels pressure on his stomach after being upright for a while then getting back into bed.
Speech cleared him for minimal by mouth feeding. He had some trouble with thin liquids but as long as he's fully upright and takes it slowly, he can have them. Maybe he'll get that grape juice he had been yearning for!
The chief of ICU seems to think Dad should stay in the ICU through Christmas. This is not what we were hoping to hear. He feels that Dad has been too unstable to move him out too quickly. Mom said it'll be a day by day thing. If Mom needs to stay in Baltimore for Christmas, we'll take a ride down to spend the night with her. Nothing like a crazy Chrismas for all! :)

Thanks for the great job of keeping us all updated! On the one hand, we would have breathed a sigh of relief if he had progressed enough to come out of the ICU; however, with all he has been through, it is probably good that he will continue to get that level of care for a while longer.
Hope you and your family are able to find some joyful moments over Christmas. (Loved the letter from Santa...)
