Hello again...

So I have to admit, taking a break from blogging has been kind of nice. I plan to keep you all informed, as always, but a little hiatus was welcomed. We had a crazy week. Getting Dad out of the hospital was chore #1 and took well over 24 hours to achieve. They finally got home at 4:30 on Tuesday. He promptly went to bed (as you saw in the picture).

Wednesday, the visiting nurse came. Her name is Rosaria and she's great! She ordered a bunch of new supplies because she's not happy with his ostomy setup or the vac setup for that matter. In the meantime, Siobhan woke up at 1 am with a stomach bug. So, we kept them 2 floors apart and lysol-ed the heck out of everything down here to help prevent the spread of her awful virus.

Thursday, things were quiet. Friday, Rosaria came back and declared that Dad and the wound were both looking much better already. No supplies came (more insurance nonsense), so he stayed with his original setup. For some reason, his VAC was clogged, so she got that up and running again. Jonathan and Ben came for a visit and then Dad had a dr. appt with his local primary care dr. to get a referral to a surgeon in NYC (Lenox Hill). The hope is that this doctor will take over his case and he can continue his care in NYC. The trip home was rough and he's already dreading the return to Baltimore.

Today, again, clogged VAC. Supplies finally came. Mom went out for some fun (yea!) and we gave Dad a walkie talkie so he can get us easily when/if he needs us.

So, that's our update for now. We've got a nice lazy day here today & then busy craziness tomorrow. It's always like that- feast or famine.

Thank you all for the well wishes and the help you've given in all kinds of ways! It means a lot to us all.

Monica
