Saturday Morning Update

Good afternoon! Big happenings for Dad today. He's walked 2 laps of the unit (yesterday he managed 1/4 of a lap), took a shower- and is VERY happy about that, got IV's taken out and the Foley catheter out. Plus, he's been upgraded to "full" liquid diet, which means he can have soups, shakes, ice creams, etc. This is great news, since Mom says he looks like he's been in a concentration camp.

His PIC line is leaking, so he's getting a sonogram to check that out and make sure there's no clot. The drain they put in is working well and he continued to drain all night, which is why he doesn't feel so full and uncomfortable. His ND tube feeds have been reduced from continuous to 2x a day.

This is quite the progress by lunchtime! All good signs, and hopefully this will be the big step forward we've been hoping for.

Kelly Clarke is in Baltimore and is on her way to stop in and probably do lunch with Mom- more much needed R&R for Mom!

I'm off to do more cleaning/straightening/etc. of my crazy house before Bob's family comes tomorrow. After that, Christmas 2008 will officially end for us. It's been a marathon for sure!
