Friday night update

Today was rocky. About 30 min after my last blog post, mom called to say things weren't going well. When they took him for the procedure to drain the collection, he went into respiratory distress. They brought him back to the room, put him on a nebulizer and tried to keep from putting him back on the ventilator. They finally decided it was better for him to go back on the ventilator now than in an emergency. He seemed to be fine with it, and asked to watch Cash Cab :)

He wound up having the procedure done late this afternoon. It went well, and they're hoping that getting this gunk out of his system will be the final piece of the infection puzzle and he'll start making steady forward progress. The original plan was to get him out of ICU by Saturday (tomorrow). Clearly, that's not happening. One day at a time......

In what I'm hoping is a positive omen, Peaches Clarke is his nurse tonight! You can't make this stuff up! :)

Mom's on her way back to Johnny and Michelle's for some much needed sleep. I'll talk to her more tomorrow.
