It's a better day today. They're weaning him off the ventilator. He's now on oxygen through a nasal tube and he's hoping to be extubated this afternoon. (fingers crossed!!!) They're taking out the swan catheter and the PIC line is out too! All good stuff. Mom said he's asking a ton of questions (using a dry erase board and using complete sentences, of course). The surgeon checked on him today & is happy with his progress.
The retention sutures he has in (high tech adjustable sutures) will need to be in for 3 weeks. He may need to be on IV antibiotics when he leaves (whenever that is). His wound is "a mess" and will need lots of care.
Overall, all good updates today! Jonathan is supposed to head down tomorrow for a visit, so I'll be able to send down the book Dad requested as well as a hair clipper- he's getting very furry and they don't have a hospital barber.
